Cookie Policy

Last Updated:

Cookies and similar technologies can help a website function securely, remember your preferences and understand how visitors use its services.

This Cookie Policy explains how Azerbaijan Travel & Visa Consultancy, operated by Nexus Solutions Global Ltd, uses or may use these technologies on evisazerbaijann.com, what information they can collect and how you can control them.

We are a UK-based independent private consultancy providing assistance with Azerbaijan e-Visa applications.

Our use of cookies and similar technologies is governed by the applicable provisions of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended, and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) where personal data is involved.

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of information that websites can store on your device when you visit them.

They can help a website remember an active session, recognise a previously selected preference or maintain the security of an online form.

Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Others remain on your device for a specified period or until you delete them.

Websites may also use technologies that perform similar functions, including local storage, tracking pixels, scripts and other forms of device storage or access.

In this policy, we refer to these collectively as cookies and similar technologies.

Not every cookie identifies you personally. However, some technologies can collect or be linked to information such as IP addresses, device identifiers or browsing activity.

Where that information constitutes personal data, the relevant data protection rules also apply.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

The technologies relevant to our website are considered under four principal categories.

Cookie categories, their purposes and controls
CategoryPurposeHow it is controlled
Essential CookiesSupport functions necessary for website operation, security and services requested by the visitor.May be used without consent where a valid PECR exception applies.
Analytics and Performance CookiesHelp us understand website performance and visitor interaction.Prior consent or a qualifying statistical-purpose exception, depending on the technology and purpose.
Preference CookiesRemember selected settings or adapt how the website appears and functions.Prior consent or a qualifying appearance-related exception.
Marketing CookiesSupport advertising, campaign measurement or cross-site tracking.Prior consent before activation.

These categories describe how a technology is assessed, rather than confirming that every category is currently in use.

Where cookies serve more than one purpose, each purpose must be assessed separately. A technology cannot automatically qualify for an exception simply because one of its functions is necessary.

Individual Cookie Information

The individual cookies and similar technologies used on the website must be described through the published cookie details, including their names, providers, purposes and relevant storage periods.

Any cookie details accompanying this policy must reflect the technologies actually present on the website.

Optional analytics, advertising and preference cookies are not currently in use.

Your browser may cache website files to help pages load. Browser caching is separate from cookies.

3. Essential Cookies

Some technologies are necessary to operate a website securely or deliver a function that you have specifically requested.

Depending on the features in use, essential technologies may help to:

  • Maintain a secure browsing or application session.
  • Protect forms against certain unauthorised or automated requests.
  • Support authentication and session continuity.
  • Remember your cookie choices.
  • Maintain essential application-form or payment-related functionality.
  • Route requests correctly and support website security.

Under PECR, consent is not required for storage or access that genuinely meets the strictly necessary exception or another applicable exception.

However, a technology does not become essential merely because it is commercially useful or helps measure website performance.

We do not classify advertising, behavioural profiling or unrelated tracking as essential simply to avoid obtaining consent.

Disabling genuinely essential technologies through your browser may affect the availability of certain website features.

Essential cookies do not grant unrestricted access to passport documents or confidential application records. Those records are protected by separate access and security requirements.

4. Analytics and Performance Cookies

Analytics can help us understand how visitors use our website and whether its pages work as intended.

Depending on the tools actually installed, relevant measurements may include:

  • Visits to particular pages.
  • General website navigation patterns.
  • Page loading and technical performance.
  • Browser and device categories.
  • Errors affecting website functionality.
  • Aggregated information about interactions with website content.

These measurements can help us identify technical problems and improve the experience of people seeking visa information.

When Consent Is Required

Analytics technologies that identify, profile or track individual visitors, monitor activity across websites or support advertising require prior consent unless their specific use meets a PECR exception.

A UK GDPR lawful basis, such as legitimate interests, does not by itself remove the PECR consent requirement.

We do not describe advertising measurement or cross-site behavioural tracking as exempt statistical analytics.

The Statistical Purposes Exception

Under the updated UK rules, certain technologies used solely to collect statistical information about the use of our own website or service, with a view to improving it, may qualify for an exception from prior consent.

The exception applies only when its specific conditions are satisfied.

To rely on this exception:

  • The information collected must be used solely for the qualifying statistical purpose.
  • The resulting statistics must not identify individuals.
  • Individual-level information must not be retained beyond what is necessary to produce those statistics.
  • The statistics must not be used for behavioural profiling, personalised advertising or unrelated marketing.
  • Visitors must receive clear information about the technologies and their purposes.
  • Visitors must have a simple, free way to object.

Where a third-party analytics provider is used under this exception, the provider must act on our behalf solely to help improve our website or service.

The provider must not combine the information with other datasets or use it for its own purposes. The necessary UK GDPR processing arrangements must also be in place.

Where analytics involves personal data, our separate obligations under the UK GDPR continue to apply.

A technology does not qualify for this exception merely because it is labelled as an analytics tool or supplied by a particular software provider.

If the requirements of the exception are not satisfied, the technology must remain inactive until valid consent has been obtained.

5. Preference Cookies

Preference technologies can make a website more convenient by remembering choices that affect its appearance or functionality.

For example, they may remember:

  • A selected display or language preference.
  • An accessibility setting.
  • A presentation preference.
  • A previously selected website option.

Not every preference requires a cookie, and we do not suggest that all these features are necessarily present on our website.

When Consent May Not Be Necessary

PECR includes an exception for qualifying technologies used to adapt or enhance a website's appearance or functionality in line with a visitor's preferences.

Where we rely on this exception, we must clearly explain the purpose and provide a simple, free way to object.

The exception does not cover technologies used to profile visitors, predict their interests, select personalised advertising or conduct unrelated behavioural tracking.

If a preference technology does not meet an applicable exception, consent is required where PECR provides for it.

Refusing optional preference technologies should not prevent access to the main informational content of our website.

6. Marketing Cookies

Marketing technologies may be used by websites to measure advertising campaigns, understand responses to promotions or deliver targeted advertisements.

Examples include advertising pixels, cross-site identifiers and technologies connecting browsing activity with advertising platforms.

Marketing technologies requiring consent must remain inactive until valid consent has been obtained.

We do not consider advertising tracking essential to providing Azerbaijan e-Visa information or consultancy services.

If marketing technologies are introduced, visitors must be informed of their purposes and relevant third-party providers before being asked to consent.

Consent must be freely given, specific, informed and indicated by a clear affirmative action.

Declining marketing cookies must not, by itself, prevent access to ordinary website information or our core consultancy services.

We do not interpret submitting a visa application, making a payment or accepting general website terms as automatic consent to advertising tracking.

7. Third-Party Technologies

Some website functions may depend on services provided by external organisations.

Depending on the systems implemented, these may include:

  • Website hosting and security services.
  • Payment providers.
  • Analytics services.
  • Embedded media or external content.
  • Communications or technical support services.

A third-party service may use cookies or similar technologies when its features are loaded or used.

We are responsible for assessing technologies deployed through our website and providing the information and controls required by law.

A technology is not automatically compliant merely because it comes from a recognised provider.

Before enabling an external tool, we must consider what information it stores or accesses, why that information is required and whether prior consent or a PECR exception applies.

Where personal data is processed, the roles of the relevant organisations and the applicable UK GDPR obligations must also be considered.

Official Government Websites

The official ASAN Visa website is operated separately from our consultancy.

If you follow a link to an official government website, that website's own privacy and cookie arrangements apply to your use of its services.

Our Cookie Policy does not govern technologies independently deployed by Azerbaijani authorities on their websites.

8. How to Manage Cookies

Visitors must be able to make meaningful choices about optional technologies used on our website.

Where consent is required, the relevant technology must remain inactive until valid consent has been obtained.

Where optional cookies are used, you can choose whether to accept, reject or customise them:

Accept All — Allow the optional consent-based technologies described in the interface.

Reject All — Refuse technologies requiring consent.

Customise Settings — Review individual purposes, make selections and save your preferences.

Rejecting consent-based cookies must be as easy as accepting them, with equally prominent options.

Controls for qualifying statistical and appearance technologies must also provide a simple, free way to object.

Essential technologies that genuinely qualify for a PECR exception may remain active where necessary.

Changing Your Choice

You can withdraw cookie consent at any time, as easily as you gave it.

Where optional cookies are used, cookie settings provide access to your choices, including consent withdrawal and any applicable objection options.

Withdrawing consent stops the affected storage, access and consent-based processing.

We will notify relevant third parties and treat withdrawal as a request to erase personal data collected under that consent, subject to applicable legal exceptions.

We must also take appropriate steps to remove affected technologies already stored on your device where required.

Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.

It does not automatically require deletion of unrelated information lawfully retained under a separate legal basis, such as necessary contractual or accounting records.

Where you exercise a valid objection to technologies relying on the statistical-purpose or appearance exception, the relevant storage or access must stop.

We will not repeatedly prompt you to accept optional technologies simply because you previously declined them.

Your Choice and Visa Applications

Refusing non-essential cookies does not make you ineligible for an Azerbaijan e-Visa or prevent you from requesting our consultancy services.

Certain technologies that are genuinely necessary for secure application handling may still be required for those functions to operate.

9. Browser Controls

Most browsers allow you to view, block or delete cookies and certain other information stored by websites.

These options are generally available in the browser's privacy, security or site settings.

Depending on the browser, you may be able to:

  • Delete stored cookies.
  • Restrict cookies from specific websites.
  • Block certain third-party cookies.
  • Clear local website storage.
  • Use private browsing features.

Removing cookies may also remove saved preferences or end an active session.

Blocking technologies genuinely required for security or functionality could affect an online application process.

Browser settings do not necessarily replace the consent and objection mechanisms that our website must provide under applicable law.

Where consent is required or a qualifying exception depends on an objection mechanism, appropriate website-level controls must be available.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when the technologies used on our website change, new services are introduced or relevant legal requirements are amended.

The Last Updated date at the beginning of this page identifies the policy version.

If we introduce a new technology requiring consent for a different purpose, we will obtain the necessary consent before activating it.

If a technology qualifies for an exception, we will provide the information and controls required for that exception.

Changes to this policy cannot retrospectively make unlawful cookie use lawful.

The individual cookie inventory and preference controls must also be reviewed when technologies are added, removed or materially changed.
