To meet the main Azerbaijan e-Visa requirements, you must be a citizen of an ASAN-listed country or a stateless person permanently residing in one, hold a suitable travel document and provide accurate application information. Your passport or accepted travel document must remain valid for at least three months after the e-Visa expires, and you must travel with the document used to apply.
The ordinary ASAN e-Visa permits one entry and up to 30 days in Azerbaijan within a 90-day validity period. Before applying, check whether a visa-free arrangement already covers your visit. If it does, an e-Visa may be unnecessary.
Who Is Eligible for an Azerbaijan e-Visa?
ASAN accepts applications from citizens of countries on its approved eligibility list. Its conditions also cover stateless persons permanently residing in those countries, subject to the applicable travel-document and application conditions.
Our Eligible Countries directory covers the 87 listed countries. Check the entry relevant to the nationality shown in the passport you intend to use.
Residence and nationality are separate questions. Living in an eligible country does not automatically make a foreign passport eligible under that country’s entry. The country list does not confirm acceptance of every document category. If you hold a temporary or non-standard travel document, check whether it is accepted before applying.
Describe the purpose and length of your visit accurately so that the application reflects your actual plans.
Check Whether You Qualify for Visa-Free Entry
Some travellers can enter under a separate visa-free arrangement even though their nationality also appears on the ASAN list. Establish whether you need a visa before deciding how to apply.
Temporary Exemptions for Eight Nationalities
Time-sensitive information checked on 26 October 2026.
The following temporary measures cover qualifying tourism visits by citizens travelling on ordinary passports:

The published arrangements allow up to three visa-free entries within one year, with stays of up to 30 days per entry. A valid visa is required for the fourth entry.
Check your travel dates, previous entries, passport category and visit purpose against the applicable measure. Check the dates again when planning a later journey. If a visit falls near an end date or your entry history is unclear, obtain confirmation before relying on the exemption.
If your visit qualifies for the exemption, you do not need to buy an e-Visa.
Azerbaijan e-Visa Passport Requirements
Calculate Validity from the e-Visa Expiry Date
Your passport or accepted travel document must remain valid for at least three months beyond the expiry date of the e-Visa.
Use the visa’s end date for this calculation. The final day of a short holiday may be earlier and is not the reference specified by ASAN.
For example, if an e-Visa expires on 20 December, the travel document must remain valid until at least 20 March of the following year. This illustrates the calculation; the dates on your visa determine the requirement.
Check whether renewal is needed before submitting an application tied to a passport you expect to replace.
Use the Same Passport for Applying and Travelling
Enter the requested names, nationality, passport number, birth details and document dates using your intended travel passport and the application’s field instructions.
If you have dual or multiple nationality, select the country corresponding to that passport. ASAN considers the e-Visa invalid if the document used for the application differs from the document used for travel.
Where possible, complete a planned passport renewal before applying. If your document changes afterwards, seek instructions before relying on the existing application or visa.
Understand Validity, Permitted Stay and Single Entry
An ordinary Azerbaijan e-Visa comes with three important limits:

The validity dates show when the permission can be used. They do not authorise a 90-day stay. Your departure must satisfy both the permitted stay and the final validity date; arriving close to expiry does not add another 30 days beyond it.
Single entry matters when an itinerary includes another country. Once you leave Azerbaijan, unused validity does not make the same visa available for a return. ASAN allows a new electronic visa application only after leaving Azerbaijan, so consider any further arrival before finalising the itinerary.
Address Registration for Longer Visits
If you will stay for more than 15 days, registration at your place of stay is generally required within 15 days of arrival. For Kazakhstani citizens staying more than 30 days, the deadline is within 30 days of arrival. Arrange registration with your hotel or host and confirm it is completed; you can also apply yourself. There is no state registration fee. Registration does not extend your e-Visa’s 30-day stay allowance.
What Information Should You Prepare?
Have the travel document available and prepare the personal details requested by the electronic application. You will also need a readable copy of its identification page. ASAN states that an unreadable attached photo page leads to rejection.
Keep the intended Azerbaijan arrival, accommodation and contact information ready as requested. Use an email address you can monitor, as application, payment and decision notifications are sent electronically.
Follow the actual application requests. Information a consultant asks for during a preliminary review is not automatically a government document requirement. For example, discussing accommodation does not by itself establish that every applicant must purchase a confirmed hotel booking.

Standard and Urgent Processing Times
ASAN publishes two assessment options:
- Standard: issue within three working days; apply at least three working days before arrival.
- Urgent: issue within three hours, including holidays and non-working days; apply at least three hours before arrival.
These periods concern assessment following successful official submission. Allow separate time to prepare information, resolve questions and inspect the outcome.
For Standard applications, the visa’s start date is set for a day at least three working days after submission. Urgent validity starts on the day of issue. Check the issued dates against your intended arrival.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need a Separate Passport-Style Photograph?
Follow the official application’s document requests. The published ASAN conditions specify a readable copy of the travel document’s photo page; they do not establish a separate portrait photograph as a universal requirement.
Can a Residence Permit Replace My Passport?
A residence permit alone does not replace the passport or accepted travel document required for the application. Establish the relevant nationality or qualifying stateless status and the suitability of the actual travel document.
Can Someone Help Me Complete the Application?
Yes. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the submitted information. Check the completed details against your passport even when another person has prepared them.
Is a Payment Confirmation Enough for Travel?
No. Obtain the actual issued e-Visa, check its passport details and travel conditions, then print it to present with the matching travel document. A payment receipt is a different record.
What Happens If My Application Is Refused?
ASAN sends the grounds for refusal by email. Read the stated reason before deciding what to do next; purchasing faster assistance does not guarantee a different outcome.
