Azerbaijan e-Visa Required Documents: Passport Copy & Application Checklist
For an Azerbaijan ASAN e-Visa, the essential document is a valid passport or accepted travel document, together with a clear, readable copy of its photo and identification page. You must also provide accurate personal and travel information through the electronic application and a working email address for notifications. Not every document associated with a conventional visa application is automatically required for an e-Visa.

The first two items concern your travel document; the others are information you need to complete the electronic form. Having details ready does not mean you must upload a separate file for every item.

Which Page Do You Need?
Prepare a copy of the passport page containing your photograph and identifying information, often called the biodata page. It shows your name, passport number, nationality, date of birth and other identifying details.
ASAN warns that an e-Visa will be refused if its system cannot read the attached photo page. A legible copy is therefore essential.
Use the Passport You Will Travel With
Use the passport you intend to carry to Azerbaijan. If you have more than one nationality, select the one corresponding to that passport. Where possible, renew an expiring passport before applying instead of submitting details from a document you plan to replace.

How to Prepare a Readable Passport Copy
Make sure the photograph is clear and the printed details and machine-readable lines are legible.
Before uploading:
- Open the passport on a flat, steady surface.
- Use even lighting, avoiding reflections from laminated areas.
- Capture the complete identification page, without hidden or cropped edges.
- Hold the camera directly above the page to minimise distortion.
- Open the file and zoom in to check names, numbers, dates and machine-readable lines.
A clear scan is useful. Avoid filters, edited text or digital alterations to the document’s content.
File Format and Size
Follow the file formats and size limits specified by the official ASAN application. A private consultancy's upload requirements apply to its own service and do not establish ASAN's requirements.
If an upload fails, read the error message before converting or compressing the file. Make a fresh copy if important details become unclear.
Personal and Travel Information to Have Ready
The passport copy is the main document upload, but the electronic form also requires information. Prepare it before you begin.
Personal details: Have the applicant’s name, nationality, birth details and passport information ready. Enter them in accordance with the form and the travel document, checking easily confused letters and numbers.
Journey details: Keep the intended arrival date, purpose of travel and relevant accommodation information available where requested. Do not invent an address or describe an unconfirmed booking as final.
Contact details: Use an accessible email address. ASAN sends application and outcome notifications electronically, so a typing mistake can make updates difficult to receive.
Enter these details in the relevant fields and upload supporting files only where requested.
Do You Need Flight Tickets, Hotel Bookings or Bank Statements?
Lists for embassy or consular visas may include a separate portrait photograph, flight reservation, accommodation booking, invitation or bank statement. That does not make each item a standard compulsory upload for an ASAN e-Visa.
The published ASAN conditions expressly address the travel document’s photo-page copy and the accuracy of application information. Supply additional evidence if the applicable application requests it, but do not purchase flights or accommodation merely because a generic checklist claims they are mandatory.
The passport-page copy is different from a separate portrait photograph. Provide a separate photograph only if the official application requests one.
Preparing Documents for Children and Families
When applying on behalf of a child, partner or other family member, use that traveller’s details. Never substitute your own passport information for another applicant’s.
ASAN allows family applications for 2–10 applicants. Each traveller's details must still be entered correctly. ASAN's FAQ requires a separate e-Visa application for a child recorded in a parent's passport, using the child's details and the other information requested by the application.
Organise each traveller’s information and supporting image separately. Check that each file is associated with the right person, and ask other adults to confirm their details where possible.
Common Document Mistakes to Avoid
Old passport details: Saved information from earlier journeys may refer to a replaced document. Compare the application with your current travel passport.
Incorrect names or numbers: ASAN warns that false or incomplete information may prevent acceptance. An issued e-Visa that does not match the travel document is invalid.

- You have the passport or accepted travel document intended for your journey.
- Its validity meets the applicable e-Visa condition.
- The complete photo and identification page is readable and unaltered.
- Names, nationality, passport number and dates match the application.

- Any further information specifically requested by the application is available.
Review the completed form against the original passport one final time. This can prevent the need to begin another application.
