Swiss citizens can apply for an Azerbaijan ASAN e-Visa. It allows a single entry and up to 30 days of stay within 90 days of validity. If several passport images or saved records exist, identify the document intended for Azerbaijan first; choosing the newest-looking attachment is not enough to establish which passport the application describes.
Check your current Swiss passport before choosing a saved scan
A recently forwarded image can show an older passport, while an earlier scan can show the document still in use. Message dates and filenames describe how files were handled, not necessarily which passport is current. Start with the actual Swiss passport the traveller intends to carry.
Check its number and dates, then locate a readable identification-page image of that booklet. If no suitable image exists, prepare one rather than select an old attachment for convenience. This practical order prevents an application from taking its identity from whichever file happens to be easiest to find.
Where a replacement is expected, settle the document choice before submission. A note saying that a new passport will arrive does not supply its number or make an application under the previous document transferable. Explain the situation during review and establish the appropriate preparation step.
Make all versions point to one selected document
Compare the completed fields, uploaded page and intended travel passport. Names, birth details, passport number and document dates should be coherent across them. Follow the current electronic form's entry instructions rather than copy a spelling or date format solely because it appears in a booking profile.
If a saved profile contains a different number, determine whether it is an older passport or a typing error. Do not simply change the image to match the profile. The point of comparison is to establish an accurate application from the selected document, not make two outdated private records agree.
An organiser can help locate files but should not guess which passport belongs to the traveller. Where several applicants' images have been exchanged, open the attachment and check its owner before submission. A plausible filename is a useful label, not independent evidence of identity.
Nationality and document type still matter
Switzerland is on the official ASAN eligibility list. The traveller's residence, the location of the organiser and the country in which payment is arranged do not replace the passport nationality. Someone living in Switzerland with another nationality needs their actual document assessed rather than assume Swiss eligibility applies.
For dual nationals, choose the passport used for Azerbaijan before entering the nationality selection. ASAN requires that selection to correspond to the travel document and considers the e-Visa invalid if the application passport differs from the travel passport. Two documents belonging to one person cannot be combined into one mixed record.
Describe an emergency, temporary or non-national travel document specifically during the initial review. The country-list entry is not blanket acceptance of every document category. The eligibility and passport FAQ provides context without replacing assessment of the actual proposed document.
Check the dates against the right reference
ASAN requires passport validity of at least three months beyond the expiry of the e-Visa. Use that visa-expiry reference when comparing dates. The end of a holiday may be earlier, so checking only that the passport survives the intended return does not complete the ASAN calculation.
The visa itself has a 90-day validity period and a maximum stay of up to 30 days within it. The whole proposed stay must fit those conditions. A later arrival cannot automatically be followed by a full 30 days if that would extend beyond the printed expiry.
Keep the one-entry condition in view as well. Remaining validity is not permission to reuse the e-Visa after leaving. Discuss an itinerary involving another arrival before relying on the same document, even if both visits appear to fit within the calendar window.
Test the attachment that will actually be used
Open the selected identification-page file after it has been saved or shared. Check that the names, number and dates remain readable and the photograph is clear. Reflection, reduction or cropping can make the final version harder to use than the original image.
An unreadable passport photo-page attachment leads to rejection under ASAN's conditions. Typing the obscured information in a private message does not make the image readable. Replace unusable evidence during preparation rather than rely on someone interpreting what a blurred character probably means.
After grant, perform a fresh comparison between the issued visa and the selected passport. Print the checked e-Visa and carry it with that passport. If the result is inconsistent, establish the supported next step; modifying a PDF privately does not create an officially corrected permission.
