Spanish citizens using eligible ordinary passports can apply for an Azerbaijan ASAN e-Visa for a qualifying short visit. Use the travel passport, not a DNI, to prepare the application. The normal electronic permission is single entry, with a 90-day validity window and up to 30 days of stay within it.
Understand the limits of your issued e-Visa
The normal ASAN single-entry visa has a 90-day validity window and permits up to 30 days of stay within it. These are different limits. Check the printed start and end dates and the permitted stay rather than assume the whole validity window can be spent in Azerbaijan.
Single entry is relevant to a journey involving another country. Leaving and returning requires an appropriate further permission, not merely unused time on the first visa. ASAN's conditions say a new electronic application is made after departure; do not treat a purchase while still inside as an automatic solution to a longer visit.
The electronic visitor route does not authorise paid employment. A business meeting and a paid assignment should not be treated as identical. Study, residence and any activity requiring additional permission must be assessed under the appropriate process before payment.
Prepare accurate passport and contact details
Use the passport intended for travel as the source for nationality, name, number and dates. Provide a readable identification-page image and accurate arrival, accommodation and contact details.
For multiple citizenship, choose the nationality corresponding to the passport being used. A foreign resident in Spain does not become a Spanish-passport applicant through residence alone. Check companions individually, including children, rather than assume the lead traveller's eligibility covers everyone.
For a child travelling with adults, prepare and check the child’s own application details. The adult’s passport number or issued e-Visa must not be copied into the child’s identity record.
Calculate passport validity from the e-Visa end date
ASAN requires the travel document to remain valid for at least three months after the e-Visa expires. This is the reference for the electronic application. A passport that lasts three months beyond a short holiday may still fall short if the visa's validity ends later.
Check the passport before paying. If renewal is necessary, settle the document intended for the journey and prepare its details and scan consistently. Do not assume an issued e-Visa automatically moves to a replacement passport.
Use the passport details, not the DNI details
A Spanish DNI is not the passport used for an ordinary ASAN application. Where a field asks for the passport number or identification-page image, use the passport you will carry. Do not substitute a residence-card or national identity-card number merely because it is familiar.
Open the saved image and check that the photograph is clear and the text and dates are legible. Reflections, blur or a cropped page can make a copy unusable. ASAN expressly warns that an unreadable attached photo page can lead to rejection.
Choose between Standard and Urgent after preparation
The published standard official assessment period is three working days, while urgent issue is within three hours regardless of holidays and non-working days. These periods concern ASAN assessment, rather than the first message sent to a private consultancy.

Urgency does not remove a passport discrepancy or complete an unreadable scan. If those questions remain, resolve them before official submission. Allow time for preparation as well as the official assessment.
Check and print your issued e-Visa
Monitor the email used in the application. The issuing system sends notifications there, including information about issue or refusal. An application acknowledgement or receipt is not the visa itself.
When an e-Visa is issued, compare its details with the passport and inspect the start date, expiry, maximum stay and entry count. Print it and carry it with the same passport. If something does not match, seek instructions before travelling; changing a booking or customer profile does not amend the issued permission.
