Dutch ordinary-passport holders need a visa for a normal Azerbaijan visit and qualify for ASAN electronic applications. Dutch official advice requires a passport, not a national identity card, and says children also need their own valid passport and visa. Start by checking each traveller's document rather than assume one adult's route covers the whole booking.
Check each family member’s passport and visa needs
List the actual nationality and passport category for every person travelling. Shared residence in the Netherlands does not mean everyone is a Dutch citizen, and a parent and child can have different citizenship circumstances. A hotel or airline family booking is not evidence of identical visa entitlement.
A Dutch-issued document is not always a Dutch national passport
A refugee, alien or other travel document issued in the Netherlands may identify a holder who is not a Dutch citizen. Do not enter Netherlands as nationality merely because it is the issuing state or place of residence. Recognition and the correct visa route for that document need their own answer.
For an ordinary Dutch passport, settle a planned renewal first. Read the passport number, names and expiry from the document intended for the journey. Do not combine a replacement passport's number with an image of its predecessor or assume an existing e-Visa transfers automatically.
Work through the dates for each traveller
ASAN requires at least three months of passport validity after the e-Visa expires. Compare the passport with that visa end date rather than only the last night of a short holiday. Family passports can expire at different times, so check them separately.
The normal single-entry e-Visa has a 90-day validity period and permits up to 30 days of stay within it. The validity is not a 90-day holiday allowance. Check the issued start, end, entry count and permitted stay against each person's itinerary.
Leaving Azerbaijan for another destination and returning is another entry. One single-entry visa does not cover that return simply because unused dates remain. ASAN's conditions say a new electronic application is made after leaving the country; do not assume another purchase while still inside resolves a second-entry or longer-stay problem.
Prepare the electronic information once the route is clear
For a qualifying ordinary case, prepare a clear identification-page image and accurate passport, arrival, accommodation and contact information. Compare the entered fields with the actual document. Obtain instructions for an unclear name or category rather than select a convenient substitute.
The electronic visitor permission does not authorise paid employment. A family holiday, professional meeting, assignment and intended residence are different purposes. A school or employer's involvement does not by itself turn a visitor application into permission for study or work.
Prepare each passport copy before entering the corresponding application. A private review request should be distinguished from a government requirement; any additional request should have a clear purpose in the agreed service.

A review can help where a family has different passports, expiry dates or travel purposes, or where it is unclear whether a case belongs in ASAN at all. The review should identify who actually needs a visa and which questions require a competent authority's answer, rather than sell the same product to every member of the group.

ASAN describes three working days for standard issue and three hours for urgent issue after successful official submission. Preparation and private review occur earlier. Once issued, inspect each visa and carry its printout with the corresponding passport.
Give each family member a separate accuracy check
For a Dutch family preparing several applications, work through one passport at a time. Compare each person's number, date of birth and expiry with that person's own file. Copying the lead applicant's details into the next application is an avoidable way to submit the wrong identity.
A child's application still needs the child's actual document information. A shared trip does not make identity details interchangeable. Check the final files individually even when a single adult organises them.
Keep email and documents together
Use an email address that will be monitored while the applications are being prepared. ASAN sends notifications about application acceptance, payments and the decision. Keep a clear association between each message, applicant and passport rather than treating a group of receipts as a set of visas.
When decisions arrive, open every issued e-Visa. Compare the number and names with the correct passport, then inspect the validity and permitted stay. Print each issued document and keep it with its matching passport. An approval for one family member does not establish the outcome for another.
When plans change, check the permission again
A new arrival date may fit the existing validity window, but it does not alter the dates printed on the visa. Recheck the departure as well: both the validity end and the maximum stay matter. Leaving Azerbaijan and returning cannot be assumed to fit one single-entry permission.
If a passport is renewed, the matching-document rule needs attention before travel. A private customer-record update cannot transfer the official visa to another passport number. Ask for the appropriate action before relying on the earlier file.
