Mauritian citizens are listed as eligible for Azerbaijan's ASAN e-Visa. Preparing the application while living or travelling elsewhere does not change the nationality shown in the passport. For a suitable document and visit, assemble accurate passport information, reachable contact details and the intended Azerbaijan itinerary rather than rebuilding the file around the country from which you happen to apply.
Applying from abroad with a Mauritian passport
Use the Mauritian passport intended for the journey to establish nationality and identity. Where the form asks about another aspect of the applicant's circumstances, follow that field's instructions and provide the appropriate current information. The point is to distinguish those facts, not to substitute nationality for every location question.
A residence document issued elsewhere is not the travel passport for an ordinary Mauritian-passport application. Likewise, a foreign national resident in Mauritius does not become a Mauritian applicant by selecting the residence country. Read the actual document for each traveller rather than infer everybody's eligibility from a shared address.
For someone with multiple citizenship, ASAN requires the nationality selection to match the passport used for Azerbaijan. An e-Visa is invalid if the application document differs from the travel document. Make that choice before filing so that the number, identification page and final travel document remain aligned.
Keep Contact Details Available While Abroad
Choose an email address you can monitor while away. Check its spelling before submission and consider who will receive the correspondence if another person helps organise the file. An accessible account matters more than whether its address is associated with the country where the application was prepared.
Have the intended Azerbaijan arrival, accommodation and requested contact information ready. Use the actual plan rather than copy a previous journey or an address entered for a different purpose. If an organiser is still confirming arrangements, obtain the relevant details before the final application reaches the authority.
Keep the passport copy, itinerary and official messages together so that you can follow the application while moving between locations. If a reviewer requests further information, ask how it relates to the submission or to the assistance you have chosen.
Check the document you will still have when you travel
If the passport is being renewed or replaced, settle the intended travel document before preparing its final file. A readable image from an earlier passport does not substantiate a replacement number. Permission issued for an older document should not be assumed to transfer automatically to the new one.
Identify any temporary, emergency or non-national document before requesting an ordinary-passport application. The country entry establishes nationality eligibility, not acceptance of every document issued by that country. Clarify the actual category while there is still time to decide whether the proposed assistance is appropriate.

The relevant comparison is with that visa end date, which may be later than the end of a short visit. Check it before official submission rather than relying on how recently the passport was used for another journey.
Make the saved evidence usable from any preparation location
Open the identification-page file that will actually be uploaded. Check that the photograph is clear and the names, number and dates are legible at a useful size. A copy received through a messaging service may differ from the original image if detail has been lost or the page has been cropped.
ASAN states that an unreadable photo-page attachment leads to rejection. Check the final version and replace it if necessary. Accurate information typed into the form does not remove the need for readable evidence supporting that information.
Follow the actual form instruction for an unclear identity field. If the answer cannot yet be established, seek clarification rather than borrowing an approximation from a booking profile. The application should remain a consistent description of the current passport wherever the preparation happens.
Fit the Azerbaijan visit within the electronic permission
The normal ASAN e-Visa allows single entry and up to 30 days of stay within 90 days of validity. Check arrival and departure against the actual issued dates. The 90-day window is not permission for a 90-day stay, and a later arrival does not add time beyond the printed expiry.
If the itinerary includes leaving Azerbaijan and returning, raise that further entry before relying on the ordinary visa. Unused days do not create another admission. ASAN allows a new electronic application only after departure from Azerbaijan; another purchase while still inside should not be treated as an automatic return solution.
Allow Time for Review and Official Processing
ASAN's Standard issue period is three working days; Urgent is three hours regardless of holidays and non-working days. Submit at least the corresponding period before arrival. Allow separate time for private review, clarification and payment before the official application is lodged.

When an e-Visa is issued, compare it with the travel passport, read the permission limits and print it for use with that same document. Keep access to the issued file while abroad. An earlier payment acknowledgement is not the document to rely on for the journey.
