Indian passport holders appear on the ASAN e-Visa eligibility list for Azerbaijan. A suitable short-visit application can be prepared electronically, using the passport intended for travel. The most useful safeguard is to compare the final application with that current document, even when a browser, travel account or previous application offers to fill the information automatically.
Check saved details against your current Indian passport
Saved information often appears in a familiar order and may have worked for an earlier journey. That makes it a convenient reference, but not evidence that the details remain correct. Renewal, replacement or a change in the passport being used can leave an account displaying information that no longer belongs in the application.
Place the current Indian passport beside the completed fields. Read the requested name, nationality, passport number and dates directly from it. Treat an autofilled answer as something to verify rather than something already checked by the system. A technically accepted field can still describe the wrong document.
If a character is difficult to read in the passport image, check the booklet or obtain a clearer copy. Use the current passport and the ASAN form's instructions to resolve the field before submission, rather than carrying an uncertain detail over from an old booking.
Compare the upload with the information on screen
The entered number and attached identification page should describe the same passport. It is possible to update the typed information after renewal while accidentally selecting an earlier image from a saved folder. Checking the two together is more reliable than reviewing each in isolation on different days.
Inspect the final saved file at a readable size. The photograph, names, number and dates should be legible, with no reflection concealing a field or crop removing relevant information. ASAN states that an unreadable photo-page attachment leads to rejection. A clear original does not help if a compressed copy is the version actually submitted.
If a helper has renamed or shared the file, open the resulting attachment before filing. Confirm that it shows your current passport and supports the details entered in your application.
Check nationality independently of location
An Indian citizen may prepare the application while living elsewhere. The country where the form is completed does not replace passport nationality. Likewise, someone resident in India with another national passport needs the eligibility assessment appropriate to that document.
For multiple citizenship, ASAN requires the country selection to match the travel document intended for Azerbaijan. The permission is invalid if the application passport differs from the passport used for the journey. Choose the document before filing, rather than planning to decide between passports once the result arrives.
Identify an emergency, temporary or non-national document expressly. India's presence on the nationality list is not a published acceptance decision for every possible document category. An unusual case should be clarified before an ordinary-passport service is purchased, without assuming either automatic acceptance or automatic exclusion.
The current passport also has to last long enough
ASAN requires the passport to remain valid for at least three months after the e-Visa expires. The relevant reference is the visa's end, which may be later than the end of a short trip. Our passport-expiry FAQ explains that distinction alongside the basic eligibility questions.
The normal electronic visa has 90 days of validity and permits up to 30 days of stay within it. These are separate limits. Check the planned departure against the stay allowance and the final validity date, and use the actual issued document when making the final comparison.
If renewal is already planned, settle the travel passport first. A visa linked to an earlier number should not be assumed to transfer automatically. If the passport changes after submission, obtain instructions for the affected application or permission; updating an airline account cannot amend the authority's record.
Processing follows a prepared submission
Standard ASAN issue is within three working days, while Urgent issue is within three hours regardless of holidays and non-working days. Apply at least the relevant period before arrival. Time spent replacing an old scan, confirming information or arranging private assistance comes before official submission.

Review the result against the same source document
Monitor the application email and retain the actual outcome. On issue, compare the passport details, visa dates, permitted stay and entry count with the document and journey. Print the e-Visa and carry it with the matching passport. A receipt confirms a transaction, not the grant of permission.
The ordinary e-Visa is single entry. An itinerary involving departure and return needs separate consideration; unused days do not make the permission reusable. Keep any later booking changes within view when checking the issued document, so that a correct passport file is not paired with a journey the permission cannot cover.
