German citizens holding eligible national passports can apply for an Azerbaijan ASAN e-Visa for a qualifying short visit. Check the actual passport category before starting: a national identity card is not the travel passport. The normal electronic permission is single entry, valid for 90 days, with up to 30 days of stay within its validity.
Which German document are you taking?
If you intend to use a temporary passport, seek confirmation of the visa route from the competent Azerbaijani authority before buying electronic assistance. The same caution applies to a document that is damaged, being replaced or outside the ordinary category. Do not enter the number of a passport you will no longer carry.
For dual nationality, choose the nationality corresponding to the passport used for the Azerbaijan journey. Residence in Germany does not make a foreign passport German, and a German residence card does not replace a passport. Where another document is genuinely being used, assess its conditions separately.
Check your e-Visa against the full travel itinerary
The normal single-entry ASAN e-Visa is valid for 90 days and permits up to 30 days of stay within those validity dates. This is not a 90-day stay allowance. The permitted stay and final visa date both constrain the visit, so check departure as well as arrival.
Single entry also matters to a trip involving another country. Leaving Azerbaijan uses the entry already made; unused days in the validity window do not create another admission on the same single-entry permission. Establish any additional permission before arranging a return to Baku. ASAN's published conditions say a new electronic application is made after leaving Azerbaijan, so do not assume an application submitted while still inside solves a second-entry plan.
Passport validity is calculated from the e-Visa's expiry. ASAN requires at least three additional months beyond that date. A passport with several months left after a short holiday may therefore need closer checking. Use the actual visa dates, and complete a planned renewal before applying with details that will change.
Prepare the electronic file
For an eligible ordinary case, use the current passport's identity details and a clear image of its identification page. Compare the name, nationality, number and expiry with the document itself. Have the intended arrival and accommodation information ready and use an email address you will monitor for the result.
Check every traveller individually. A companion's different nationality, document category or travel purpose may lead to another answer. If a consultant requests further information, clarify whether it is needed for the ASAN application or for the optional review. Keep the readable passport image and intended arrival details together for the final review.
Standard and Urgent assessment
ASAN describes three working days for standard issue and three hours for urgent issue, including non-working days for the urgent option. The relevant point is successful official submission. If the document is temporary, establish its ASAN suitability before selecting a paid electronic service. Assistance does not guarantee approval or admission.
Make a readable copy before paying
Open the identification-page image at a size at which you can read every identity field. Check the photograph, text and dates for glare, blur or a cropped edge. ASAN states that an unreadable passport photo-page attachment leads to rejection. Uploading a large file is not useful if the information in it remains illegible.
A consultant can compare the file and entered details, but that review does not alter the document itself or establish acceptance of an unusual passport. If the category is uncertain, clarify it before an official application and payment rather than using the ordinary-passport category as a workaround.
Check the issued document
Once a decision arrives, open the actual document. Compare its passport details with the booklet and its validity with the intended Azerbaijan arrival. Keep a printout with that same passport. An application receipt or a private payment confirmation is not the issued visa.
If the document contains an error, obtain instructions before travelling on it. Correcting a customer record held by our team does not amend an already issued official permission. This last check matters even when somebody else prepared the application for you.
