Belgian citizens with eligible passports can apply for an Azerbaijan ASAN e-Visa for a suitable short visit. The normal electronic permission is single entry, valid for 90 days and allows up to 30 days in Azerbaijan within those dates. Choose the travel passport first and keep the application, uploaded copy and issued permission tied to that document.
Choose the Belgian passport you will travel with
A traveller with more than one nationality may hold two valid passports. ASAN requires the selected nationality to correspond to the document used for travel. Once that choice is made, use the same document’s identity information, number and identification page throughout the application.
Do not select Belgian citizenship while uploading another country’s passport, or enter a familiar number from a saved booking profile. Under ASAN’s conditions, the e-Visa is invalid when the application document differs from the document used for the journey. Eligibility follows the actual document and nationality being assessed, rather than a convenient combination of details.
If a companion travels on another passport, check that nationality in the eligible-country directory. Living in Belgium does not make a foreign passport Belgian. Likewise, the eligible-country entry does not settle whether every temporary, emergency or non-national document issued in Belgium can use the ordinary electronic route.
Deal with renewal before official filing
Read the passport expiry against the intended visa period. ASAN requires at least three months of validity after the e-Visa expires. A calculation from the holiday’s final night can underestimate the required period when the visa remains valid later.
Where renewal is planned, settle the intended travel document first. A new passport may have a different number and expiry even when the holder’s name and nationality stay unchanged. Avoid a file containing the new number alongside an old identification-page image.
An existing permission should not be assumed to transfer automatically to a replacement booklet. If a passport changes after submission or issue, seek instructions before travelling on the earlier e-Visa. Amending a private customer profile is not an amendment to the official document.
Review what the scan actually shows
Make a readable copy of the passport identification page. Inspect the saved image, including the photograph, names, number and dates. Glare or cropping can hide a field even when most of the page looks clear. Check the file that will be uploaded, rather than relying only on the original camera preview.
ASAN’s conditions state that an unreadable attached photo page leads to rejection. Typed details cannot repair unreadable evidence. Replace the copy before payment and official submission if the information cannot be read reliably.
Use the live form’s instructions to enter the passport information. An identity card or residence document may have familiar numbers, but those should not replace the requested travel-passport fields. Resolve an unclear name or document category before submission, using the passport and the form’s guidance.
Fit both ends of the visit inside the permission
The normal ASAN visa has a 90-day validity window and a separate maximum stay of 30 days. Check the planned departure against both. Arrival near the end of validity does not create an extra 30 days beyond the printed expiry, and the longer window is not a 90-day stay allowance.
The visa provides one entry. A departure from Azerbaijan followed by a return is another entry even when the entire holiday falls within those 90 days. Unused time does not make the same electronic permission reusable.
ASAN permits a new electronic application only after leaving Azerbaijan. Establish how a return itinerary would be handled before assuming another online purchase while still inside solves it. Also describe the intended visit accurately: electronic visa eligibility does not authorise paid employment.
Prepare accurate contact and arrival details
Have the intended Azerbaijan arrival, accommodation and contact information ready for the application. Review any change before filing. If the journey involves connections, the departure date from Belgium may differ from the arrival date in Azerbaijan.
Choose a monitored email address and check it carefully. ASAN sends application, payment and decision notifications to the entered address. If another person assists, agree how the actual outcome and issued document will be delivered. A message that the enquiry has been received should not be read as official approval.
Processing and optional independent support
ASAN publishes Standard issue within three working days and Urgent within three hours, with Urgent applying regardless of holidays and non-working days. Its conditions require the application at least the corresponding period before arrival. Leave room for preparation and for reading the result.
